TESAMORELIN | Growth Hormone Research

Exploring the Science of GHRH & Visceral Adipose Tissue

Tesamorelin is a synthetic growth hormone–releasing hormone (GHRH) analogue that stimulates the pituitary gland to release growth hormone, influencing downstream IGF-1 and metabolic signaling. It has been extensively studied for its effects on visceral adipose tissue (VAT), particularly in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy.

Clinical studies have demonstrated reductions in visceral abdominal fat with tesamorelin in this specific patient population, while research has also examined its effects on body composition and metabolic markers. Importantly, these results should not be interpreted as evidence that tesamorelin is a general-purpose weight-loss or body-composition product.

Research Focus

  • GHRH and growth-hormone signaling
  • GH/IGF-1 pathways
  • Visceral adipose tissue biology
  • Body-composition research
  • Metabolic and endocrine signaling
  • Growth-hormone physiology

Clinical Status: Tesamorelin is an FDA-approved prescription drug for reducing excess abdominal visceral adipose tissue in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy. Its safety and effectiveness for other uses have not been established.
